There’s a joy in finding a fledgling musician, only to witness the same musician begin to make waves on the scene. It’s almost like they’re my faux children and I couldn’t be more proud to see them succeed.
Plus, just like a normal parent I’ll admit there is a small part of me that enjoys the bragging rights. (I’m human okay?)
Meg Myers is one of those discoveries. While driving around recently I had a very happy moment when I heard one of her songs playing on my local radio station. It’s a big deal. Throughout the past few years Myers has been making her name known to alternative music fans by releasing multiple singles that have consistently been on point. Now with a major studio release on the horizon, Myers has stepped up her game even further by releasing a song that’s the perfect mixture of indie and pop, it’s sure to win over audiences.
“Sorry” is a dark and intimate song that channels many elements of 90s girl-grunge, but refined into a more futuristic 2015 landscape. It’s a sound that lets Myers stand out amongst her contemporaries. A song about love falling apart and the pain that accompanies the downfall, “Sorry” and Myers are unafraid of making the listener feel emotions vicariously through the music. Soon you’ll find yourself yelling out pointed sorries as you sing along.
What song is your go-to song currently?
P.S. – Looking for another kick butt female musician on the rise? Shura is taking over electro-pop at an impressive speed.
Until next time,
