Do you know what it is? #JAMpackedholiday Day Three!
For as much grief as Gossip Girl gets for being an unbelievable show about the scandalous life of rich upper East Side teenagers, I can freely admit one thing. The music department was spot on with their ace song choices. All the seasons delivered a heavy slew of new tunes to my collection.
Out of all the music I was introduced to, the most long-lasting was for the band The Kills. As a young teenager I hadn’t discovered Alison Mosshart yet and for that, I am thankful. She is a total fashion icon who also knows how to properly rock.
There’s many comparisons of The Kills to The White Stripes and while I see it, I’d say The Kills are much grittier. “Sour Cherry” is a song that’s fierce and a half. Yes, that extra dash of fierce is definitely necessary. The throbbing three note guitar riffs throughout really get you in the zone – which is why “Sour Cherry” is a frequent in my running playlist.
My favorite feature of “Sour Cherry” is the borderline buzzing feel it gives off. Between the fuzzy guitars and distorted drums, everything feels a bit altered – but I think that’s part of appeal.
