Welcome to Weekend Coffee Break. The perfect opportunity for me to do exactly what I intended when I created this blog: find joy in the things I love most and the ability to share that with others. You can expect to see these posts every second and fourth Saturday morning. You’ll get your fill of the best of the best in what the internet has offered with pop culture, music, and a bit of everything in between.
One of my favorite pastimes during the weekend is taking some time to curl up with a good cup of coffee on Saturday or Sunday morning and read through the best collection of articles the internet has to offer. Seeing as ice and twelve inches snow are currently forecasted here in Minnesota this weekend (seriously, WTF it’s mid-April Mother Nature.) I figured it was the perfect time to try my own hand at round-up posts after years of reading and enjoying ones done by other bloggers.
I’ve always loved link-based posts for two reasons. I often stumble upon things I never would’ve otherwise. It also gives the reader a unique insight into the bloggers’s personality and interests.
This first volume of Weekend Coffee Break has a few older links that I’ve been sitting on for a while as I assembled this idea fully. I promise they’re still good articles and worth the read. I’m hoping now that this is an ongoing series, I will be able to begin incorporating many of the amazing posts by my fellow bloggers that I read as well.

Jennifer Lawrence is a polarizing figure in Hollywood. Some love her, others despise her. What can be undisputed is that at one time she was the It-Girl of town, until suddenly the tides turned. Buzzfeed did an article on how Lawrence has almost become a prisoner of her “cool girl” title.
Pink socks, a plaid robe, and a fish + chips shop. Harry Styles must be the new face of Gucci. I for one, can’t wait to see this wacky goodness at work. That boy knows how to rock a high price suit like no one else.
A Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot is coming soon. Part of me is like…SIGN. ME. UP. The other part wants them to stop rebooting everything and leave my childhood alone. This version is said to be darker and led by the awesome Kiernan Shipka, aka Sally Draper who we all cheered for on Mad Men. I’m curious enough to watch, but skeptical.
Ruth Bader Ginsberg is one of the coolest ladies around. A new documentary showcases the life and legacy that the well-loved Supreme Court justice has created. If you don’t know much about Mrs. RBG other than the pop culture fascination with her, she’s been making history for longer than many realize.
Avengers: Infinity War is hitting theaters soon after 10 years and a multitude of wildly successful films in the Marvel universe. Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man started it all in 2008, but A LOT can change in a decade. Would Iron Man be as popular if it was released today?
What’s the biggest thing you’ve done for the ‘gram? Hopefully not go $10,000 into debt to become an influencer.
Hi, I need to get to NYC by the end of 2018. The Harry Potter: A History of Magic exhibit is finally making it’s way stateside. Do I have any takers to come with me and geek out over cool magical things?
I, like basically every other human being on the planet, fall in love with Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir every Winter Olympics. The two of them have some off the charts chemistry and need to fall in love. (Or admit they are already in love.) While I’m waiting for that, I’ll just keep watching every old performance and interview. Including this previous number that they chose to revisit as their skating gala routine in what was probably their last time on Olympic ice. I can be a bit of a pop culture tin-hatter, but out of all their routines Virtue and Moir’s choice in “A Long Time Coming” seems to be pointed. (P.S. The video from the actual Olympics Gala has since been deleted, but the original competition from 2017 sums it up nicely.)
Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to bake some delicious recipes. There’s a Prince themed cookbook hitting the shelves, Little Red Velvette. Let me tell you – it looks amazing. I’m not usually a baker, but this might just make me push up my sleeves in the kitchen.
When you hear Girl Scouts, most of us immediately think of cookies. The organization is far more than that – they have a history of strong feminism. As a kid I kind of scoffed at the idea of ever donning a green vest, but now as an adult learning this background is pretty awesome.
We’ve all heard of the allusive EGOT, or a person who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony respectively. Did you know with his recent win for Coco, Robert Lopez successfully completed his SECOND EGOT? (He is the only person to ever do so.) Talk about impressive.
What’s the best story you’ve read recently?
Until next time,
