With no further ado it’s #JAMpackedholiday Day Twenty!
I know for everyone in the Northerm Hemisphere we’re supposed to be in winter, but these unseasonably warm temps are making us feel like it’s almost summer. Even though the season isn’t quite right, I still am finding myself enjoying this new song from Pete Yorn. This single is the first new music from Yorn exclusively since 2010. While “Summer Was A Day” has moved forward sonically, it also pays homage to the fluidity and sincerity of his early work. The 90s alt rock vibes are still around strong.
In Minnesota we have a local radio station here called Cities 97 that each week has Acoustic Sunrise and Acoustic Sunset hours on Sundays. All they play is easy listening and low key music. I’ve grown up tuning in each week to this tradition and it’s just kind of how I enjoy my music on Sundays now. I even have my own playlist of mellow jams that would fit the rotation. While listening to it this morning, “Summer Was A Day” came on and I knew this would be today’s song. It’s such a stark contrast in vibe to yesterday’s hectic and over the top choice.
Do you have certain songs or types of music you only listen to a specific times?
P.S. – Want to create your own Sunday playlist? Check out #JAMpackedholiday for a few other wonderful mellow choices of tunes.
